Technical Information Engineer

Key Job Responsibilities

• Identify and analyse the information needed to produce, step-by-step instructions for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining Komatsu equipment and narrative descriptions of the design and functions of Komatsu equipment,
• Initiate and drive technological developments and innovation in the “How to guide” space and analyse industry trends;
• Gain awareness of and familiarity with Global and Regional regulations, standards, and industry guidelines relating to technical writing;
• Assist with creating documentation for technical service manuals and parts manuals for machine-specific OEM, rebuild and aftermarket technical documentation;
• Assist in creating training content & documentation for sales & services aswell internal documentation;
• Research, collect and analyse information from subject matter experts and other Engineering resources (including databases, technical drawings/models, spreadsheets, and written references);
• Develop and maintain an archive for all generated and validated documentation;
• Interface with Project Management, Marketing, Engineering, Services and Manufacturing to produce, and coordinate the production schedule for Technical Publications;
• Generate, distribute and manage all documentation requests;
• Initiate Engineering change management (ECM) for all technical documentation requests using the SAP platform;
• Manage the validation of all technical documentation; and
• Manage and create the department purchase requisitions. Minimum Skills required.

• A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related field;
• A minimum of three to five years’ experience in an engineering environment;
• Experience in the mining industry would be advantageous;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English;
• Experience in technical writing or copywriting would be advantageous;
• Practical experience using XML, DITA, and content management systems to create and maintain structured technical documentation;
• Proficiency in standard office productivity applications and digital document-management tools; and
• A valid driver’s license and access to reliable personal transport; Behavioural Competencies required.
