Technical Lead – iStore Education

Core Group brings leading technology brands to customers and businesses across Africa. Through iStore Education, we help schools, colleges and universities use Apple technology in their teaching and learning environments. As an Apple Premium Education Partner, we support institutions with device deployment, management and ongoing technical support.

We’re looking for a Technical Lead to lead the technical side of iStore Education. You’ll oversee large Apple device rollouts, lead a technical team and make sure our clients receive reliable support after deployment. You’ll also help us grow our work with universities and other higher education institutions.

What you will do:

• Plan and lead large-scale Apple device rollouts, from technical scoping and configuration through to deployment and go-live.
• Manage Apple device fleets, including enrolment, apps, security policies and ongoing MDM administration.
• Lead and develop the technical, deployment and support team.
• Manage timelines, budgets, resources and risks across multiple projects.
• Oversee the help desk, resolve escalated technical issues and manage support against agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
• Build relationships with education clients and provide technical input when designing solutions for new opportunities.

What you will need:

• At least five years’ experience in a senior technical or IT leadership role.
• Previous experience as an IT Manager, or equivalent senior responsibility for IT systems, infrastructure, projects and/or teams.
• Direct experience in the education sector, working with schools, universities or other tertiary institutions.
• Proven experience leading large-scale device deployments.
• Strong practical experience in Apple device management and Jamf administration.
• Experience managing a technical help desk or ticketing system and SLA-based support contracts.
• A relevant Apple device certification, such as Apple Certified Support Professional or Apple Certified IT Professional.
• A relevant Jamf certification, such as Jamf Certified Tech or Jamf Certified Admin.
• A relevant IT management qualification and/or industry certification, such as an IT or Information Systems qualification, ITIL or CompTIA.

Tools and platforms:

You should be confident working with Jamf, Apple mobile device management (MDM) tools and Apple School Manager and/or Apple Business Manager. You’ll also need experience with a help desk or ticketing platform such as Freshservice, Zendesk or ServiceNow.

Experience with Microsoft Intune in a mixed Apple and Windows environment would be an advantage. A formal project management certification or experience in technical solution selling would also be beneficial.
