Technical Sales & Applications Engineer

Gear Force Engineering is a specialist mechanical engineering company providing gearbox repairs, rotating equipment services, laser shaft alignment, mechanical power transmission solutions, and reliability engineering support to the mining, manufacturing, FMCG, and heavy industrial sectors.

We are looking for a motivated and technically minded Mechanical Applications Engineer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role that combines engineering, technical support, project coordination, and client interaction. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers, suppliers, and clients while gaining practical experience with industrial rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare technical quotations and engineering proposals.
• Conduct gearbox inspections, strip assessments, and failure investigations.
• Prepare professional engineering inspection reports and technical documentation.
• Assist with the selection and specification of gearboxes, electric motors, bearings, couplings, and power transmission equipment.
• Perform engineering calculations and equipment sizing.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and OEMs regarding technical enquiries.
• Coordinate workshop activities and monitor project progress.
• Assist with procurement of mechanical components and spare parts.
• Review technical drawings and equipment specifications.
• Attend client sites for inspections, commissioning, and technical support where required.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company quality and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng, BTech, Advanced Diploma, or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Valid South African driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel to client sites when required.

Pay: R15 000,00 - R40 000,00 per month
