Technical Sales Representative

TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE – Midrand, JHB

Atlas Plant Hire is looking for a driven and technically minded Technical Sales Representative to join our JHB team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for growing sales and profitability by developing relationships with existing customers, identifying new business opportunities and providing customers with the right equipment solutions for their requirements.

This role would suit someone who enjoys sales but also has a good understanding of equipment and its technical application. Experience with diesel mechanics, generators and/or compressors will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers and develop new business opportunities within the region.
• Conduct customer visits, presentations and product demonstrations and identify opportunities to grow the customer base.
• Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable equipment and solutions.
• Prepare and deliver quotations and proposals to customers.
• Provide customers with accurate technical information relating to equipment and its applications.
• Work closely with the workshop, technical services, logistics and accounts teams to ensure effective service delivery.
• Achieve monthly sales and gross profit targets.
• Maintain accurate sales records, planning schedules and reporting.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric). A relevant diploma or degree will be advantageous.
• Previous sales experience, preferably within the plant hire, equipment, construction or related industry.
• Technical knowledge or practical experience in diesel mechanics, generators and/or compressors.
• Ability to understand equipment specifications and recommend equipment according to customer requirements.
• Strong sales, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.
• Self-motivated, target-driven and able to work independently.

The ideal candidate will be commercially driven, technically minded and confident in dealing with customers. A background in plant hire, equipment sales or a technical environment will be highly advantageous.
