Technical Sales Representative

About the Role

SA Compressor Service is looking for a young, motivated and technically minded Technical Sales Representative to join our growing team in Gauteng.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or technically qualified individual who wants to build a career combining engineering, technical problem-solving and sales.

You will be responsible for developing relationships with industrial customers, identifying their compressed-air requirements, conducting site assessments and providing technically appropriate solutions.

The ideal candidate is someone who is eager to learn, comfortable working with customers, technically curious and willing to get out into the field. Previous sales experience is advantageous but not essential. Technical ability, attitude and willingness to learn are more important.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential industrial customers.
• Identify new business opportunities within Gauteng and surrounding areas.
• Visit customer sites to understand their compressed-air systems and requirements.
• Conduct basic technical site assessments of compressors, dryers, filters, receivers and compressed-air distribution systems.
• Gather information such as operating pressures, air demand, equipment specifications and operating conditions.
• Identify system inefficiencies, pressure drops, capacity issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Recommend appropriate technical solutions based on customer requirements.
• Prepare technical quotations and proposals in conjunction with the company's technical team.
• Explain technical solutions and equipment benefits clearly to customers.
• Assist customers with compressor, air-treatment and compressed-air system selection.
• Follow up on quotations and develop opportunities through to completion.
• Maintain accurate customer and opportunity records.
• Travel throughout Gauteng and, when required, nationally for customer visits and projects.
• Develop a strong understanding of industrial compressors, compressed-air systems and air-treatment equipment.
• Work closely with service and technical teams to ensure solutions meet customer requirements.
• Attend customer meetings, technical discussions and site inspections.
• Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, energy savings, maintenance and system optimisation.

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma, Degree, Trade Qualification or equivalent technical qualification in:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Mechatronics
• Industrial Engineering
• or a related technical field.
• Students in the final stages of a relevant technical qualification may also be considered.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Own reliable vehicle is essential.
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout Gauteng and potentially nationally.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good computer literacy.
• Strong problem-solving ability.
• Professional and confident when dealing with customers.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge.

Previous sales experience is not essential. Training will be provided to the right candidate.

Pay: R8 000,00 - R20 000,00 per month
