We are seeking a Technical Sales Support Manager, MPT Gearboxes to join our TSS Team. This position is to bridge the gap between technical expertise and sales success of Gearboxes. The Technical Sales Support Manager ensures that customers receive the right technical gearbox solutions while supporting the sales team with in-depth product knowledge.

By acting as a liaison between customers, sales, and the global engineering team, this role helps drive business growth, improve customer satisfaction, and ensure smooth communication of technical requirements.

In this position, you will report to the Head of Grinding, Bulk, Pyro & Smelting

This position is mainly based in Centurion , Gauteng

TEAM YOU’LL BELONG TO

You will join the TSS Team and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as Sales , Product Lines & Market Areas , Procurement , Engineering , Project Management , the Quality Team and the Customer & Supplier Technical Interface .

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Provide Sales Support & Technical Expertise

Provide technical guidance to the sales team, ensuring accurate and effective customer proposals

Assist in the development of technical sales materials, including presentations and documentation

Support pre-sales and post-sales activities, ensuring customer requirements are met

Customer Engagement & Solution Development

Act as a technical point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries and providing tailored solutions

Conduct technical presentations, demonstrations, and training to support customer understanding

Collaborate with the global engineering team to develop customized solutions when required

Collaboration with Internal Teams

Work closely with engineering, product management, and R&D teams to align solutions with business goals

Provide market feedback to help shape product development and innovation strategies

Assist in resolving technical challenges that arise during the sales and implementation process

Industry & Market Awareness

Stay up to date with industry trends, competitive technologies, and emerging market needs

Continuously enhance technical knowledge to provide customers with the latest and most effective solutions

Frequent Travel & On-Site Support

Visit customer sites as needed for technical discussions, troubleshooting, or solution validation

Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and technical conferences when required

Handling Multiple Priorities: Juggling sales support, customer interactions, and internal collaboration efficiently

WHO YOU ARE

Matric (Grade 12)

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus)

Proven experience in technical sales support, application engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role. Minimum of 5 years of experience

Background in industrial scale gearboxes in Mining or similar industry

HARD AND SOFT SKILLS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE

Technical Skills:

Strong technical expertise in planetary and helical gearboxes

Ability to analyze customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions

Experience with technical presentations, demos, and proposal development

Soft Skills & Competencies:

Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences

Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused mindset

Ability to work independently while collaborating with a global team

Additional Requirements:

Willingness to travel, customer visits, training, and industry events

Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus)
