Will be responsible for providing technical leadership, architecture guidance, operational oversight, and engineering excellence across the Big Data Platform. The role ensures the stability, scalability, security, and modernization of the platform, while enabling data engineering, analytics, AI/ML, and regulatory reporting workloads.Are you someone who can

• Provide technical leadership for the Big Data Platform and associated services.
• Define and drive platform architecture, standards, and engineering best practices.
• Develop platform roadmaps aligned to business, data, and cloud strategies.
• Identify opportunities for modernization, automation, and operational efficiencies.
• Act as the technical escalation point for critical platform issues.
• Lead the operational management of:
  • Cloudera Data Platform (CDP)
  • IBM Storage Scale (ESS)
  • Hadoop ecosystem services
  • Data lake storage and compute platforms
• Ensure platform availability, resilience, recoverability, and security.
• Oversee platform upgrades, patching, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
• Manage performance tuning and capacity planning across storage, compute, and networking layers.
• Establish and maintain operational runbooks and support procedures.

Support and optimize services including:

• Apache Spark

• Hive

• Impala

• Iceberg/Open Table Formats

• YARN

• HDFS & S3

• JupyterHub

• Zeppelin

• Ranger

• Atlas

• Cloudera Data Engineering services

• Lead administration and optimization of IBM Storage Scale (ESS).

• Ensure storage performance, resilience, replication, and capacity management.

• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on:

  • Compute platforms
  • Networking
  • Virtualization
  • Data centre capacity planning

• Support hybrid cloud expansion and cloud storage integration.

• Implement and maintain platform security controls.

• Ensure compliance with banking, regulatory, and information security requirements.

• Manage access control, authentication, authorization, and encryption standards.

• Support governance initiatives including:

  • Data lineage
  • Metadata management
  • Auditability
  • Regulatory reporting requirements

• Drive Infrastructure as Code and platform automation initiatives.

• Promote CI/CD practices across platform and data services.

• Develop automation for operational support, monitoring, deployment, and provisioning.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Kiro, automation agents) to improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency.

• Establish proactive monitoring and observability practices.

• Define platform SLAs, SLIs, and operational metrics.

• Lead root cause analysis and problem management activities.

• Drive continuous improvement of platform stability and service quality.

• Provide technical consultancy and guidance to project teams onboarding onto the platform.

• Present technical recommendations and status updates to management and governance forums.

• Lead and mentor platform engineers and developers.

• Conduct technical reviews and solution governance.

• Develop team capabilities and succession plans.

• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
