Technical Web Operations Assistant / Junior Web Developer

Role and Our Environment

We are seeking technical Web Operations assistant to support our Technical Lead in the management, maintenance, security, and performance of a portfolio of business-critical WordPress websites. This role is ideal for someone with a foundation in web development and website hosting who wants to grow their skills in website operations, infrastructure, hosting, and DevOps-related practices.

Our websites are hosted on VPS infrastructure and utilise modern hosting practices including WordPress, Docker-based environments, development, staging and production workflows, SSL monitoring, website monitoring, security management, backups, and controlled deployments.

What We Are Looking For

A technically curious and eager learner who enjoys problem solving and troubleshooting, has an interest in hosting and web technologies, can work alongside a technical lead resource, and wants to build a long-term career in website operations and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Serving in support of the Technical Lead on the following:

· Assist with WordPress website administration and maintenance.

· Support deployments between staging and production.

· Monitor uptime, SSL certificates, and website health.

· Assist with backups, recovery testing, and disaster recovery.

· Troubleshoot hosting, website, and performance issues.

· Assist with Docker-based environments.

· Support on administration for Apache, NGINX, and PHP.

· Manage firewall and IP whitelist requests.

· Maintain operational documentation.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

· Basic hosting/server administration

· HTML, CSS, JavaScript, exposure to PHP and WordPress

· Linux familiarity

· Docker

· Troubleshooting skills

· Attention to detail

· Good communication

Desirable:

· Git,

· VPS/cloud hosting,

· Apache or NGINX,

· WordPress administration,

· Divi,

· Experience in website monitoring,

· Deployment workflows.

Advantageous:

· Docker Compose,

· Uptime Kuma,

· Cloudflare,

· Firewall management,

· and release management.
