Purpose of the Role:

The Installation Technician is responsible for the professional installation, testing, maintenance and commissioning of vehicle tracking, telematics and related electronic systems. The technician ensures that every installation is completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Installation
• Install vehicle tracking and telematics devices into passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, motorcycles, and plant equipment.
• Perform installations according to company quality and technical standards.
• Test all equipment before handing the vehicle back to the customer.
• Diagnose and resolve installation faults and technical issues.
• Perform repairs, replacements and maintenance of installed equipment where required.
• Ensure every installation is completed correctly on the first visit.Customer ServiceExplain installed products and system functionality to customers.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service at all times.
• Answer customer questions regarding products and installations.
• Maintain a professional company image while working on customer premise.

Administration

• Complete all installation documentation accurately.
• Capture job information on the company system.
• Record stock usage and equipment issued.
• Complete service reports and job cards accurately

Operational

Responsibilities:

• Attend all scheduled training sessions.
• Continuously improve technical knowledge and skills.
• Work closely with schedulers to ensure efficient job allocation.
• Arrive punctually for all scheduled installations.
• Complete installations within allocated timeframes.
• Comply with all company health, safety and quality standards.
• Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicles in good working condition.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 10–12 (Matric preferred)
• Valid South African Driver's Licence ( code 8/10)
• Certified copy of South African ID
• Valid Police Clearance Certificate
• Valid PSIRA Certificate
• Proven experience in the installation of vehicle tracking and telematics units.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours when required.

Advantageous:

• Electrical or Electronic Qualification
• Auto Electrician Qualification Automotive
• Technician Qualification Relevant
• Technical Certificate
• Experience Minimum of 2–5 years' experience in automotive electronics or vehicle fitment.
• Experience installing vehicle tracking systems, telematics, alarms or related aftermarket products.
• Experience reading electrical wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of automotive electrical systems.
• Fleet tracking experience will be advantageous.
