Job Advert Summary

To provide technical leadership and expertise in the maintenance function by ensuring the effective execution of preventive and corrective maintenance, maintaining high standards of plant reliability and equipment performance, and supporting artisans in achieving optimal plant availability, productivity, safety, and maintenance standards.

Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma/Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Trade Tested Millwright
• 3+ years' experience in supervising people/maintenance teams
• Understanding of technical drawings, manuals and technical guides
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
• Willing to work overtime, weekends and public holidays when required
• Willing to attend scheduled monthly utility shutdowns, including Sundays
• Willing to perform standby duties
• Business English: Fluent
• Computer literacy: Intermediate

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Process Control & Instrumentation

• Maintain and repair instrumentation, process control equipment, and automation systems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on process control and instrumentation systems.
• Optimise control systems to improve process efficiency, equipment performance, and production output.
• Conduct fault-finding on process control, instrumentation, and automation system failures and implement corrective actions.
• Inspect and test equipment in accordance with the prescribed ELKE schedule.
• Maintain and ensure the availability of the latest approved process control software backups.
• Ensure process control software and systems are maintained and updated in accordance with established standards.
• Support the restoration and re-establishment of process communication systems following failures or maintenance interventions.
• Maintain and replace process control hardware as required.
• Identify and communicate required modifications to process control hardware and software.

2. Technical & Specialist Support

• Provide technical and specialist support to Production, Maintenance, and other departments across the branch.
• Provide technical guidance and assistance to Artisans during complex breakdowns and maintenance activities.
• Investigate recurring equipment failures and recommend solutions to improve reliability and availability.
• Provide technical input on modifications, upgrades, and improvements to control and automation systems.

3. Maintenance & Repairs

• Ensure the effective execution of maintenance and repairs on machinery, equipment, and automation systems.
• Organise maintenance resources to ensure effective and timely execution of planned and corrective maintenance.
• Perform Millwright-related maintenance tasks within the required scope of the role.
• Ensure that maintenance work completed by Artisans meets required technical, quality, safety, and operational standards.
• Participate in major breakdowns and provide technical assistance to ensure equipment is restored safely and efficiently.
• Perform preventative maintenance and ensure maintenance standards are consistently maintained.
• Work closely with equipment suppliers and service agents to ensure equipment performance, standards, and supplier requirements are met.

4. Projects & Continuous Improvement

• Assist with projects, equipment modifications, and upgrades to process control and automation systems.
• Participate in the implementation of new technologies and process improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, productivity, and plant availability.
• Make recommendations to reduce downtime and improve maintenance and production performance.

5. Production Availability & Reporting

• Monitor and report on plant and production availability.
• Investigate equipment downtime and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide relevant technical and operational feedback.
• Assist with maintenance administration and ensure required documentation is completed accurately.

6. Safety, Compliance & General

• Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with Clover safety procedures, standards, and applicable legislation.
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure tools and equipment are safely stored and maintained.
• Participate actively in Way Better Teams and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform standby duties as required.
• Perform other related and ad-hoc duties within the scope of the position.
