About the School

Our client is a well-established Independent Preparatory and College situated in the North-Western suburbs of Johannesburg. The school specialises in assisting children of average or above-average intellectual ability who are experiencing academic difficulties or certain learning challenges. Following the CAPS curriculum as set out by the Department of Basic Education, the school provides a supportive and structured environment where learners are empowered to reach their full academic potential.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Technology Teacher for Grades 8 and 9 to join the school for the 2027 academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, practical and learner-centred Technology lessons aligned with the CAPS curriculum, while adapting teaching approaches to accommodate diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Technology lessons for Grades 8 and 9 in line with the CAPS curriculum• Develop practical and theoretical learning activities that encourage problem-solving, creativity and critical thinking• Adapt teaching methods and learning materials to support learners with varied academic challenges• Assess, monitor and report on learner progress• Prepare learners for formal assessments, projects and practical tasks• Foster a positive, structured and supportive classroom environment• Maintain accurate learner records and assessment documentation• Collaborate with colleagues, parents and support staff to ensure holistic learner development• Promote safe and responsible use of tools, equipment and technology during practical activities

Qualifications & Experience

• A degree (NQF Level 7) and PGCE or B.Ed (FET) with a specialisation in Technology or a relevant teaching subject• SACE certification and a police clearance are requirements• 2–5 years teaching experience• 2–5 years specialist subject teaching experience• Experience teaching Technology at Grades 8 and 9 level• Computer and digital literacy• First Aid
