About the Role

The Testfield Technician performs electronic product testing, diagnostics, fault finding and component-level repair within the production environment to verify product functionality, compliance and quality. The role ensures reliable electronic products are tested, repaired and released in accordance with specified technical, quality and customer requirements.

Qualification and experience:

• Minimum T3, N6 or S4 qualification in Electronic Engineering; a Diploma in Electronic Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience within an electronic manufacturing or production-testing environment.
• Practical experience in Radio Frequency measurement and testing is essential.
• Experience in component-level fault finding and repair within a military electronic environment.
• Experience working with analogue and digital electronics and associated test equipment.
• Experience with computer-based testing and Automatic Test Equipment will be advantageous.
• IPC certification will be advantageous.

Key responsiabilities:

Test Preparation and Execution

Prepare and execute electronic product testing using approved test documentation, instrumentation, equipment, software, firmware and test configurations to verify product functionality against specified requirements, resulting in accurate, reliable and compliant test outcomes.

Diagnostics and Fault Finding

Perform systematic diagnostics and fault finding at component, subsystem and system level using circuit diagrams, diagnostic procedures and electronic test equipment to identify defects and determine root causes, resulting in accurate fault isolation and effective technical resolution.

Maintenance, Repair and Rework

Perform component-level repairs, soldering, rework and product-restoration activities in accordance with approved technical procedures and applicable IPC requirements to restore defective units to specification, resulting in reliable and serviceable electronic products.

Quality Assurance and Product Verification

Verify product workmanship, alignment and compliance through acceptance, burn-in, Environmental Stress Screening, vibration and other prescribed testing processes to confirm conformity with defined quality and technical standards, resulting in compliant products ready for Quality Control or Quality Assurance acceptance.

Technical Documentation, Compliance and Delivery

Maintain accurate test records, job cards, fault reports and FRACAS information while applying ESD, occupational health and safety, quality and organisational requirements to ensure traceability and production control, resulting in compliant reporting and achievement of required delivery targets.
