Textile Production Manager

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

· Supervise and manage supervisors, line leaders, machine operators, machinists, service hands, cutters, checkers, packers, and general workers.

· Allocate labour according to production priorities and skill levels.

· Monitor attendance, productivity, timekeeping, and employee conduct.

· Conduct performance management, coaching, and employee development.

· Identify training requirements and facilitate multi-skilling

· PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE

PRODUCTIVITY AND EFFICIENCY MANAGEMENT

· Monitor production efficiencies and labour productivity.

· Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to improve operational performance.

· Reduce downtime, fabric wastage, rework, and scrap.

· Implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

· Analyse production reports and implement corrective actions where required.

· Drive achievement of efficiency targets across all production areas

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process and achieving production targets. You will be responsible for ensuring that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and meets quality standards. This role requires excellent organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT

· Ensure sewing machines, flatbed machines, cutting equipment, embroidery machines, and other production machinery are properly maintained.

· Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules with the Maintenance Department.

· Ensure machine breakdowns are addressed promptly to minimize downtime.

· Ensure operators use machinery safely and correctly.

· Monitor machine efficiencies and utilization.

· Key Performance Areas (KPA)

MATERIAL AND INVENTORY CONTROL

· Monitor fabric, trims, thread, filling material, packaging, and consumable usage.

· Ensure materials are available for uninterrupted production.

· Minimize fabric wastage and material losses.

· Coordinate with stores and warehouse regarding stock availability and stock control.

· Ensure proper storage and handling of raw materials and finished goods.

· PRODINGUCTION PLANN AND SCHEDULING

HEALTH AND SAFETY

COMPLIANCE

· Communicates safety rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with health and safety policies.

· Develop and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all production staff.

· Conduct regular safety inspections.

· Investigate and address any safety incidents or concerns. Escalate where necessary.

· Incident rate – Measure the frequency of health and safety incidents

QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL

· Ensure finished products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.

· Monitor quality throughout all production stages.

· Investigate defects, rework, rejects, and customer complaints.

· Implement corrective and preventative actions to reduce quality issues.

· Work closely with the Quality Department to improve product consistency.

· Ensure adherence to measurement specifications, stitching quality, finishing standards, and packaging requirements

HOUSEKEEPING

· Ensures that housekeeping policies and procedures are implemented and monitored consistently.

· Conduct regular audits of cleanliness and organisation in the work area.

REPORTING AND ADMINISTRATION

· Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.

· Maintain accurate records relating to production output, downtime, quality, absenteeism, and efficiencies.

· Report on production performance against targets.

· Participate in operational and management meetings.

· Assist with budgeting, labour planning, and cost control initiatives

· Inaccurate production reports

AD HOC DUTIES

· Any other reasonable duties assigned by senior management

PART C: JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

· Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Production Management, Operations Management, Textile Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field, is preferred

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

5+ years’ experience;

· Production Management

· Supply Chain Management

· Leadership skills
