Job description
The Lot Collective | Cape Town
The Lot Collective is looking for an experienced, dynamic and sales-driven Store Manager to join our team.
We are looking for someone who doesn't simply manage a store - they know how to sell one.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced retail professional who thrives on achieving targets, leading a team, creating exceptional customer experiences and driving commercial performance.
With 5+ years of retail management experience and a proven track record of delivering against - and ideally exceeding - sales targets, you will be responsible for driving the day-to-day success of the store while ensuring that The Lot Collective's distinctive customer experience and brand standards are consistently upheld.
The Role
As Store Manager, you will take ownership of the store's sales performance, team performance and overall customer experience.
You will be expected to lead from the front, actively engage with customers, coach your team on selling techniques and create a high-performing sales culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of daily, weekly and monthly sales targets and KPIs
- Consistently drive sales and identify opportunities to maximise revenue
- Lead by example on the sales floor and be actively involved in customer selling
- Coach, motivate and manage the sales team to achieve individual and store targets
- Monitor individual staff performance and implement strategies to improve results
- Analyse sales performance and use data to identify opportunities and areas for improvement
- Drive conversion, average basket size, units per transaction and customer retention
- Deliver an exceptional, personalised customer experience
- Build strong relationships with customers and encourage repeat business
- Ensure the store is beautifully presented and consistently reflects The Lot Collective's brand aesthetic
- Oversee daily store operations, opening and closing procedures and cash-up
- Manage stock levels, merchandising, stock movement and loss prevention
- Maintain high standards of staff presentation, punctuality and professionalism
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and ongoing staff development
- Manage staff schedules and ensure adequate floor coverage
- Handle customer queries and resolve issues professionally
- Report regularly on store performance, sales and team KPIs
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and wider TLC team to execute sales and marketing initiatives
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is commercially driven, confident and genuinely passionate about sales.
You will ideally have:
- 5+ years' experience in retail, with significant Store Manager or senior retail management experience
- A proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Strong understanding of retail KPIs and sales performance
- Excellent leadership and people-management skills
- A natural ability to coach and motivate a sales team
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and administrative ability
- A proactive, energetic and solutions-focused approach
- Impeccable personal presentation
- A genuine passion for fashion, lifestyle, beauty and/or premium retail
- The ability to work confidently in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
- Flexibility to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays when required
You will stand out if you have:
- Experience within premium, luxury, fashion or boutique retail
- A strong existing understanding of sales KPIs and performance management
- Experience managing a high-performing sales team
- A demonstrated ability to turn sales targets into tangible results
- A strong personal sales record
- A natural eye for styling, visual merchandising and brand presentation
- Experience working with POS and retail reporting systems
Most importantly...
We are looking for someone who loves to sell.
Someone who sees a quiet day as an opportunity rather than an excuse.
Someone who knows how to turn a browser into a buyer, a first-time customer into a loyal customer, and a sales target into a number they intend to beat.
You should be confident, ambitious, commercially minded and hands-on, with the leadership ability to bring your team with you.
If you are an experienced retail leader with a proven sales track record and believe you can make a measurable difference to The Lot Collective, we would love to hear from you.
