Trainee Showroom Manager
Our client is a highly successful tiling retailer with a luxury showroom based in Gauteng. Known for delivering a world-class customer experience, they specialize in premium tiles, taps, and sanitaryware for projects ranging from high-end home renovations to major new developments.
We are seeking a results-driven Trainee Showroom Manager with a strong sales background, exceptional customer service skills, and natural leadership potential. This role combines hands-on showroom sales with structured exposure to management functions — stock control, team coordination, and showroom operations — as part of a clear path toward a Showroom Manager position.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Client Engagement: Welcome walk-in showroom clients, providing expert advice on premium tiles, taps, and sanitaryware.
- Design Consultation: Help clients visualize design concepts and choose products tailored to their space and style.
- Relationship Building: Deliver personalized service that aligns with the brand's luxury standards to build long-term loyalty.
- Sales Excellence: Consistently meet and exceed monthly sales targets, setting the standard for the wider team.
- Management Exposure: Shadow and assist the Showroom Manager with rostering, stock management, supplier coordination, and daily operations.
- Team Leadership: Support onboarding and mentoring of new sales consultants as part of leadership development.
- Showroom Aesthetics: Oversee premium showroom presentation, ensuring displays, pricing, and promotional materials are immaculate.
- Admin & Support: Prepare accurate quotes, manage after-sales support, and assist with reporting on sales and stock performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Matric Certificate required; a relevant retail/business qualification advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of successful sales experience, preferably within high-end retail, design, or customer service.
- Track Record: Proven ability to meet or exceed set sales targets.
- Leadership Potential: Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or training junior staff advantageous.
- Systems: Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, strong mental math skills for quoting, and high attention to detail.
- Attributes: Creative flair, strong eye for aesthetics, natural leadership qualities, and a collaborative team player.
- Stability: A stable employment history with a commitment to long-term career growth (no job hoppers).
- Flexibility: Willingness to work standard retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Career Path
Structured on-the-job management training with a view to promotion into a Showroom Manager role upon demonstrated readiness and performance.
Remuneration & Benefits
- Initial Period: Market-related basic salary during the initial 3-month probation contract.
- Permanency: Permanent appointment upon successful completion of probation.
- Salary: R18,000 per month (dependent on experience), reflecting the added management training scope.
- Benefits: Full corporate benefits package post-probation.
- Incentives: Lucrative company profit-share scheme post-probation.
