Job description
The Transformer Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day manufacturing, repair, refurbishment and testing of transformers. The role manages workshop staff, production schedules, quality control and safety, while ensuring all transformers are correctly tested, documented, labelled and approved before dispatch. The position requires strong technical transformer knowledge, leadership skills and accountability for workshop quality, productivity and performance.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- N6 Electrical Engineering, preferably Heavy Current; OR a recognised Electrical Trade Qualification such as Electrician or Electrical Fitter; OR an equivalent recognised electrical engineering qualification.
- Minimum 5 years practical experience in the transformer industry.
- At least 2 to 3 years supervisory or management experience in transformer manufacturing, repair, refurbishment or testing is preferred.
- Demonstrable practical knowledge of transformer construction, winding, insulation systems, transformer oil, repairs, fault finding and testing.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, transformer rating information and test results.
- A National Diploma, Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant transformer or power experience will be advantageous.
