Transport Analyst
Role Outline
Play a leading role in supporting the medium term strategic goals to optimize the supply chain operation. Be able to run multiple "what if" scenarios with robust cost benefit analyses to determine the most cost-effective warehouse and distribution models. Provide support to the depot teams to drive cost containment and/or cost reductions, delivery flexibility through development of key performance indicators. To undertake logistics benchmarking & competitor analysis to build a robust best in class logistics delivery model and "making DHL a great place to work".
Key Responsibilities

To assist in the costing of solutions and benefits proposed

Collection and analysis of data

Identify areas of opportunity or problems within a supply chain environment

Determine & analyze all transport cost drivers to enable the daily management of effective & efficient deliveries so as to meet the pre agreed to KPI's

Build Supply Chain models and run "what-if" analysis
-
Provide support to the depot transport teams to drive cost containment and/or cost reductions, delivery flexibility through development of comprehensive transport performance metrics

Be attuned to best practices and supply chain trends

Act as consultant to the design team during design phase for new business

Provide ongoing auditing and modeling of existing supply chain

Be actively involved in and support change initiatives, be a change agent to drive implementation of the 2015 business strategy within the transport department

Translate defined strategies into specific goals, objectives and responsibilities

Ensure compliance to all policies and Standard Operating Procedures through in field audits as needed

Assist in the costing of solutions and benefits proposed

Set up standard operating procedures based on the analysis done per site
-
Achieve operational efficiency by identifying and addressing inefficiencies per site
-
Interface effectively with the site teams to gather information and build supply chain models
-
Support internal decision making processes by presenting accurate fact based information, which can be succinctly presented to management for critical review and approval, in either presentation and/or report form
Qualifications/ Skills/Competencies/Experiences

Matric
-
Relevant professional qualifications
-
Tertiary education/ degree - Bcom, Bsc Engineering

2-3 years of experience as a Transport Analyst
-
2-3 years experience in the Logistics/Transport sector
-
God understanding of transportation
-
Support complex operations
-
Analyse and manage distribution resources
-
Fixed/ dynamic routing experience

Robust yield management
-
Initiate market strategies, co-ordinate actions
Build complex financial models
-
Excellent communication skills both verbally and written, must be able to convince others

Computer software
-
Ability to function on a strategic level
-
Ability to review and analyse results, report on findings

Record of confident dealing with middle management through to decision makers

Clarify goals and reach agreements
-
Ability to discuss strategic, sensitive issues

Build and maintain excellent relationships with all
