Role Outline The primary purpose of the role is to plan, coordinate, and monitor the end-to-end movement of goods and DHL Supply Chain vehicles, from loading through to offloading, to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery. The role supports operational excellence by ensuring optimal fleet utilization, safeguarding the health and safety of drivers and assets, and maintaining service excellence across the supply chain. This role is responsible for proactive transport planning and expediting, including route optimization, vehicle scheduling, and real-time monitoring of vehicle movements. Any deviations or anomalies are identified and communicated timeously to Planners, Distribution Centres, customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. The role is pivotal in supporting the velocity of the business by creating efficient transport plans, coordinating daily transport activities, and leveraging consolidation and routing opportunities to meet service commitments in the most cost-effective manner while continuously improving operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Accountable for the end-to-end execution of transport operations, including planning, coordinating, and expediting the movement of goods and fleet assets from loading through to final delivery and collection.
• Ensures optimal utilization of vehicles and drivers through effective route planning, scheduling, and real-time monitoring to meet service commitments, operational excellence, and business velocity requirements.
• Ensures accurate execution and control of transport activities by maintaining complete and accurate transport documentation and system data, including trip sheets, PODs, fuel usage, and Combined Load Registers.
• Proactively identifies, manages, and escalates operational deviations such as delays, breakdowns, non-conformances, and compliance risks, ensuring timely resolution and minimal service disruption.
• Accountable for ensuring full compliance with DHL Supply Chain policies, SOPs, OSHAC, legislative requirements, and health and safety standards.
• Provides clear operational direction and support to drivers and stakeholders, ensures effective communication of instructions, manages incident and accident reporting, supports change initiatives,
• Maintains service continuity during leave periods to consistently deliver safe, efficient, and customer-focused transport operations.

Qualifications

• Matric
• Degree/ Diploma in Logistics/ Transport Management (advantageous)

Experience

• 1-3 years experience in transport/ logistics environment
