SUMMARY: POSITION INFO: Key Responsibilities Manage the daily transport operations of the business, including planning, scheduling, and dispatching vehicles. Ensure efficient utilisation of company and subcontractor transport resources. Monitor vehicle performance, fuel consumption, maintenance schedules, and operating costs. Develop and implement transport strategies that improve fleet productivity and reduce downtime. Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, road safety regulations, and company policies. Analyse transport routes, delivery schedules, and loading efficiencies to identify cost-saving opportunities. Implement systems and processes to streamline logistics operations and improve service delivery. Continuously evaluate transport performance metrics and implement corrective actions where necessary. Optimise load planning to maximise payload capacity and minimise unnecessary trips. Improve turnaround times at loading and offloading points. Proactively identify and secure backloading opportunities to eliminate or significantly reduce empty return trips. Build relationships with customers, suppliers, transport brokers, and industry stakeholders to create sustainable backload networks. Develop strategies to maximise revenue generation from existing transport assets. Monitor fleet utilisation and implement measures to ensure trucks are operating at optimal capacity whenever possible. Track and report on empty kilometres and implement initiatives to reduce these costs. Coordinate the movement of logs, timber products, and finished goods between suppliers, production facilities, and customers. Work closely with production, procurement, sales, and operations teams to ensure transport requirements are met efficiently. Ensure customer delivery commitments are achieved consistently and cost-effectively. Manage transport contractors and negotiate rates and service agreements. Lead, supervise, and develop transport and logistics personnel. Establish clear performance standards and accountability measures. Prepare logistics reports, transport cost analyses, and fleet performance reports. Manage transport budgets and identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvement.
