Truck Site Technician

Our Motor Division is expanding, and we are looking for a highly skilled Truck Site Technician to support our growing fleet of heavy-duty trucks operating across the different sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the future of commercial transport. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, repair, commissioning, and technical support of electric trucks at customer sites throughout South Africa.

The ideal candidate is a qualified technician with extensive experience on heavy commercial trucks, who is passionate about emerging vehicle technologies, enjoys working in the field, and is willing to travel extensively and relocate to customer sites when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on electric heavy-duty trucks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic faults.
• Perform fault finding using OEM diagnostic software and specialised equipment.
• Conduct commissioning, pre-delivery inspections (PDI), and customer handovers.
• Respond to breakdowns and provide on-site technical support to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Inspect vehicles and identify potential failures before they occur.
• Complete service reports, job cards, warranty documentation, and inspection reports accurately.
• Ensure all work complies with OEM standards, company procedures, and customer requirements.
• Liaise professionally with customers and provide technical advice where required.
• Maintain company tools, diagnostic equipment, and service vehicles in good condition.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental requirements while working on customer sites.
• Support the introduction and commissioning of new electric truck technologies.

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic, Auto Electrician, Commercial Vehicle Technician, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or equivalent recognized trade qualification.
• Minimum 3- 5 years' experience servicing and repairing heavy commercial trucks.
• Strong understanding of truck mechanical, electrical, braking, steering, suspension, drivetrain, and hydraulic systems.
• Experience using OEM diagnostic equipment and electronic troubleshooting tools..
• Medically fit
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Requirements

• Willing to travel extensively throughout South Africa.
• Valid Code B driver's licence (Code C1/C is a requirement)
• Willing to relocate and work on customer sites for extended periods.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, public holidays, and standby when required.
• Comfortable working in remote and demanding environments.
