Tuckshop Assistant (Part-Time, Gap Year Student)

Location: Cresta area (preference for candidates residing in Windsor)
Schedule: Part-time, during school terms only

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic gap year student to join our tuckshop team. This role is ideal for someone taking a year off before starting their studies next year and who enjoys working in a fast-paced, energetic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily tuckshop operations, including serving customers and handling cash.
• Restock shelves and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Work efficiently during busy school breaks and lunch hours.
• Provide friendly, helpful service to students and staff.

Requirements

• Must be South African and hold a valid South African ID.
• Must be based in the Cresta area (preferably Windsor).
• Energetic, reliable, and quick to learn new tasks.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Available to work part-time during school terms.

• Work Environment
• The tuckshop is a busy, fast-paced setting where teamwork and efficiency are essential. Staff rotate between stations (Frying, Feeding Scheme, Sandwich) depending on daily needs.
• Training Provided

Basic training will be given on food safety, hygiene standards, and station-specific tasks to ensure smooth operations.This role offers valuable experience in food preparation, customer service, and teamwork — skills that are useful for future studies or careers.Staff are required to wear appropriate clothing (aprons, hairnets, gloves) and maintain strict hygiene standards at all times.The tuckshop team works closely together, supporting one another to deliver meals quickly and efficiently. Energetic, positive attitudes are highly valued.Working hours align with school terms and tuckshop operating times. Flexibility may be required during peak periods (e.g., exam weeks, special events).
