For Universal Renal Care South Africa, we are looking for a Unit Manager who will be embedding patient-centred care, driving clinical excellence, promoting ethical behaviour, ensuring compliance, and supporting innovation.
About the role:
This is a full-time, Unit Manager role based in Tzaneen, Limpopo. The Unit Manager will manage the daily clinical, operational, and administrative functions of a dialysis unit, ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient resource utilisation.
How you will contribute:
- Manage and coordinate tasks in the unit, including patient care and scheduling, staff scheduling, and workflow optimization.
- Build a positive environment and teamwork through effective engagement with staff.
- Plan and coordinate internal and external staff training to ensure training is completed timeously within set deadlines.
- Drive compliance with all regulations and standards related to clinical, stock management, HR and finance processes.
- Provide direct patient care as required according to professional qualification as Registered Nurse/ Clinical Technologist scope and serve as a clinical resource for the dialysis team on the floor.
- Conduct orientation and ongoing training of new employees and sessional workers.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and process efficiencies.
- Conduct doctor’s rounds to ensure effective communication and coordination between
stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to patient care and staffing.
- Submit monthly and weekly clinical management reports and billing documentation timeously within deadlines.
- Assist with preparation and coordination of blood samples and requisition forms according to doctor’s and funder’s requirements.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Actively manage unit cost control efforts.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and doctors to address concerns and resolve issues.
- Comply with POPIA regulations.
- Participate in strategic planning and quality initiatives to meet organizational requirements.
What you bring to URC:
- National Senior Certificate (Matric)
- Registered Nurse or Clinical Technologist Qualification
- Current registration as a Professional Nurse OR Clinical Technologist with SANC/HPCSA and proof of valid practicing license.
- Sufficient experience in dialysis of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Competence in electronic medical records, basic computer literacy, and accurate clinical documentation.
Preferred Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of dialysis treatment modalities, equipment, and related patient care protocols.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide a team of healthcare professionals.
