Job description
Locations: Philippines, Latin America and South Africa (100% Remote)
Employment Type: Full-time Independent Contractor (exclusive commitment)
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with the candidate's market rate, experience, skills, and overall qualifications
- Philippines - $1,400–$2,400 USD per month
- Latin America - $1,600-$3,500 USD per month
- South Africa - $1,400-$2,100 USD per month
Imagine owning a clean, predictable close — every month. Your checklists sharp, your reconciliations airtight, your reports telling a story leaders can act on. That’s this role.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You’ll support fast-growing U.S. companies and CPA firms as a Philippines-based US Accountant — driving both accuracy and clarity. Full-time IC with exclusivity. No other engagements after hire.
You see accounting as a system: inputs tidy, flows efficient, outputs decision-ready. You’ll own the close, stitch together AP/AR, payroll, and reconciliations, then ship reporting that blends variance insight with plain-English commentary. Along the way you’ll standardize checklists, codify playbooks, and turn “oops” into automation.
If you like turning chaos into order and insights into action — welcome.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- You’ve closed books for U.S. entities and can hit the ground running with minimal supervision
- You balance precision with practicality — you know when to dive deep and when to move fast
- You enjoy creating order (SOPs, templates, checklists) and love clean ledgers and tidy reconciliations
- You’re tech-curious and look for ways to automate routine work and reduce errors
- You build trust with clients through consistent delivery, transparency, and simple explanations
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
Financial Reporting
Your reports tell a story leaders can act on.
- Prepare timely balance sheets, P&Ls, and cash-flow statements with variance analysis and plain-English insights
- Build budgets, rolling forecasts, and cash-flow projections; monitor burn and runway for SMB clients
- Join standing client calls, translate financials into plain English, and proactively flag risks and opportunities
Books & Reconciliations
Precision is your baseline, not your ceiling.
- Manage the books end-to-end: AP/AR, month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and the general ledger
- Reconcile bank, credit card, merchant, and loan accounts; investigate and clear discrepancies
- Run payroll accurately: calculate wages, deductions, and withholdings; coordinate approvals; ensure on-time processing
- Maintain organized, audit-ready files and strong documentation across periods and entities
Process & Systems
Build the playbooks. Be the one who turns chaos into clarity.
- Standardize checklists, close calendars, and SOPs; suggest tech automations (rules, workflows, integrations)
- Maintain data quality and controls — every file clean, every period documented, every record audit-ready
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- 2+ years of U.S. accounting/bookkeeping experience (public practice or industry)
- QuickBooks Online proficiency — required, with clean documented workflows
- Strong English communication — written, spoken, and client-facing; service-oriented mindset
- Experienced CPA or non-CPA — both are welcome here
- Ownership mentality: organized, deadline-driven, managing multiple clients without sacrificing accuracy
- Comfortable working U.S. business hours (night shift, PH-based)
Preferred (nice to have):
- Xero, Bill.com (or similar AP/AR automation)
- G-Suite/Excel (pivot tables, lookups), and basic reporting/BI tools
HOW WE WORK
Quality: Close checklists, review notes, and documentation are part of every engagement
Security: Best practices for data privacy, MFA, and least-privilege access — always
Collaboration: Slack/Zoom standups, shared task boards, and predictable review cycles
