UWM 49/26 Principal Professional Officer
Requirements
- BEng, BSc Engineering, BTech Engineering, or equivalent
degree qualification in the Engineering/Built Environment field.
- Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Tech Eng or Pr Eng.
- 8 to 10 years' relevant experience gained after obtaining the
first relevant tertiary qualification.
- Extensive experience managing projects ranging from
approximately R40 million to R150 million and above.
- Proven experience in capital project planning, implementation,
contract management and engineering management.
- Sound knowledge of: Municipal infrastructure development
processes; Project and programme management
methodologies; Contract administration and construction
management; Environmental and waste management legislation.
- Valid driver's licence.
Key Performance Areas
- Develop and implement infrastructure provision plans.
- Lead feasibility studies and infrastructure planning initiatives
- Support long-term infrastructure and capital investment planning.
- Manage site identification, acquisition, zoning, permitting,
and environmental approval processes.
- Develop project implementation plans, budgets, cash flows,
and schedules.
- Prepare project briefs and specifications.
- Manage consultant procurement and appointment processes.
- Lead the execution and commissioning of capital infrastructure
projects.
- Monitor construction quality, budget expenditure, timelines, safety,
and environmental compliance.
- Manage project risks and address implementation challenges.
- Contract Management and Advisory Services
- Stakeholder Liaison and Engagement
- Evaluate innovative technologies and infrastructure solutions
from industry stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets, cash flows, and capital funding
requirements.
- Conduct research into industry best practices and emerging
technologies.
