About the role The role forms part of the Corporate tax and VAT Department within the Finance division at Home Office in Brackenfell.
The role reports directly to the VAT Manager. Responsibilities include assisting with the reviewing and periodic filing of the South African and Non-RSA VAT returns ensuring accuracy and compliance with the individual VAT acts of each country and the Revenue Authority interpretation.
The successful candidate should showcase excellent attention to detail, proven numeracy skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced deadline driven environment and taking on responsibility. Working in both a team environment, as well as working independently without supervision will be required.
What you'll do* Prepare VAT returns for specific countries including the electronic filing requirements
- Review VAT reconciliations and ensuring accuracy.
- Assist with and guide on VAT audits.
- Perform VAT reasonability calculations
- Assist with the development and implementation of system enhancements
- Admin and associated filing
- Ad-hoc projects
- Review article master data for accuracy
What you bring* BCom Finance, Commercial or equivalent – (essential)
- Minimum 3 years VAT experience.
- Experience within the FMCG, retail sector or similar (preferred).
- Experience with VAT in Africa will be advantageous.
- Demonstrates a strong interest in and aptitude for VAT and other indirect tax matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel - intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel - (essential).
- Exposure to SAP / BPC (essential).
