Vehicle Assistant

Responsibilities

• Report to their allocated dock and oversee loading of vehicle.
• Freight must be inspected for visible damage during loading process.
• Potentially damaged freight should be returned to client.
• Safe loading and securing of freight once collected from client and/or stores.
• Load the vehicle according to instructions from management and safety standards. (Ensure that the freight will not be damaged on route)
• At the delivery point the correct freight must be identified in accordance with the paperwork, delivered to the client, and obtained signature of delivery (POD).
• Conduct themself in a friendly professional manner when interacting with clients.
• Return freight must be inspected for damage before accepting and loading.
• Return freight must be handed to the RDC on return and signed for.
• The driver must ensure that the vehicle must be parked in a safe area when offloading or alternatively be under constant monitoring by the vehicle assistant.
• Attend the debrief session together with the driver and management.
• Keep the interior and exterior of the vehicles clean.

Requirements

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
• Must have a valid code 10 license and driving code 10 vehicle experience for minimum of 5 years
• Valid PDP for minimum of 5 years
• Older than 25 years
• Must have own vehicle
• Computer Literate
• Previous Operational Administration Experience
• Ability to build good working relationships.
• Possess well-developed communication skills. Be methodical and well organized with an analytical and enquiring mind.
• Have the ability to work accurately and under pressure
• Access to reliable personal transport
• Passport Advantageous
