Video Editor – Social Media, Short-Form & Marketing Content****Position Type: Full-Time, Remote
Working Hours: U.S. Business Hours (flexibility required for deadlines and launches)
About the Role At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring a Video Editor to create engaging, high-performing video content across social media, digital marketing, and training.
This is more than a technical editing role. We’re looking for someone who understands storytelling, hooks, pacing, audience retention, and content performance.
You’ll take raw footage and transform it into polished content including:
- Instagram Reels
- TikTok videos
- YouTube Shorts
- YouTube and long-form videos
- Paid marketing creatives
- Training and educational videos
- Brand and corporate content
If you know how to capture attention in the first few seconds, maintain viewer interest, and turn average footage into content people actually want to watch, this role is a strong fit.
What You’ll Own****Video Editing & Storytelling Edit professional video content using:
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Final Cut Pro
- DaVinci Resolve
Turn raw footage into:
- Short-form social videos
- Long-form YouTube content
- Training videos
- Explainer content
- Marketing assets
- Brand and corporate videos
You’ll:
- Select the strongest footage and moments.
- Create compelling opening hooks.
- Structure edits around storytelling and viewer retention.
- Optimize pacing, cuts, transitions, and visual flow.
- Remove unnecessary footage without losing the core message.
- Deliver polished videos aligned with the intended audience and platform.
Short-Form Social Media Editing Create scroll-stopping content optimized for:
- Instagram Reels
- TikTok
- YouTube Shorts
You should understand modern short-form editing techniques including:
- Strong first 1–3 second hooks
- Fast, intentional pacing
- Pattern interrupts
- Captions and on-screen text
- B-roll placement
- Punch-ins and dynamic cuts
- Music and sound effects
- Retention-focused storytelling
The goal isn’t simply to make content look good — it is to keep people watching.
Motion Graphics & Visual Enhancements Enhance videos using:
- Titles
- Captions
- Lower thirds
- Motion graphics
- B-roll
- Graphics
- Brand elements
- Transitions
Use tools such as:
- Adobe After Effects
- Canva
Maintain consistent visual branding across all deliverables while ensuring graphics support the story rather than distract from it.
Audio Editing & Color Deliver professional audiovisual quality across every project.
You’ll:
- Sync and clean dialogue.
- Reduce background noise.
- Balance audio levels.
- Add appropriate music and sound effects.
- Ensure music and assets are properly licensed.
- Perform color correction.
- Apply color grading where appropriate.
- Maintain consistent visual and audio quality throughout each project.
Multi-Platform Content Optimization Prepare and export videos specifically for each distribution channel.
Work across formats including:
- 9:16 – Reels, TikTok, Shorts
- 1:1 – Social feeds
- 16:9 – YouTube, websites, training, and presentations
Optimize:
- Resolution
- Compression
- Codecs
- File sizes
- Audio levels
- Platform-specific formatting
Repurpose long-form footage into multiple short-form assets where appropriate.
Marketing & Performance-Driven Editing Use content performance data to improve future edits.
Monitor metrics such as:
- Watch time
- Audience retention
- Engagement
- Click-Through Rate (CTR)
Identify where viewers drop off and use those insights to improve:
- Hooks
- Pacing
- Video length
- Story structure
- Visual changes
- Calls-to-action
You should be interested in why a video performs, not simply whether the edit looks polished.
Collaboration & Revision Management Work closely with:
- Marketing teams
- Creative directors
- Content teams
- Other stakeholders
Manage feedback using tools such as Frame.io.
You’ll:
- Interpret creative briefs accurately.
- Incorporate feedback quickly.
- Communicate clearly about timelines and deliverables.
- Maintain organized project files.
- Work toward completing projects within two revision rounds or fewer.
*Required Experience & Skills**Must-Have 2+ years of professional video editing experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating professional editing ability.
- Strong proficiency with at least one of:

- Completing revisions and preparing final exports.
- Reviewing content performance to understand what editing styles are generating stronger retention and engagement.
- Archiving completed projects and maintaining organized source files.
