The Cape Peninsula Organisation for the Aged (CPOA) is looking for a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Village Nurse at Constancia Place, one of our retirement villages in Plumstead.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a nurse who enjoys working independently, building meaningful relationships with older persons, and promoting healthy, independent living within a retirement village environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct wellness assessments and monitor the health of residents.
- Perform routine nursing procedures, including wound care, injections, dressings, blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring.
- Develop, implement and review resident care plans.
- Coordinate medication management and liaise with doctors and other healthcare professionals.
- Conduct home visits following hospital discharge and provide ongoing support where required.
- Identify health risks and refer residents to appropriate healthcare providers.
- Support residents, families and private carers by providing guidance and education.
- Manage the on-site clinic, including clinical records, stock control and infection prevention.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid when required.
- Promote resident wellness through health education and preventative healthcare initiatives.
- Assist the Care Manager with clinical oversight and stand in for the Shift Leader when required.
Minimum Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current SANC registration.
- Previous experience in elderly care, frail care, primary healthcare or a retirement village environment will be advantageous.
- Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Computer literacy.
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport will be advantageous.
