Job Advertisement: Vineyard Assistant

Location: Stellenbosch Region, Western Cape

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Vineyard Manager / Farm Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, high-energy Vineyard Assistant to join our team. This role is a vital link between management and our vineyard teams. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality work standards on the ground, maintaining field logistics, and driving team efficiency.

The ideal candidate is someone with good practical vineyard knowledge who can enforce work standards, and ensure that vineyard teams remain productive and focused throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

Field Supervision & Oversight: Actively monitor vineyard teams to ensure tasks (pruning, canopy management, harvesting, etc.) are executed to standard.
Logistics & Team Support: Coordinate and deliver essential supplies to the field teams throughout the day, including drinking water, tools, and equipment.
Quality Control: Constantly inspect the quality of manual labor in the blocks, correcting techniques on the spot where necessary.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure teams are operating safely and using equipment correctly.
Reporting: Keep the Vineyard Manager informed of daily progress, team performance, and any operational challenges.

Qualifications and Experience

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working in vineyards is strictly required.
Knowledge: Solid understanding of seasonal vineyard operations and standard viticultural practices.
Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license (Code 8 or Code 10).
Language: Ability to communicate effectively with field teams (fluency in Afrikaans or isiXhosa is highly advantageous).
Candidate must live in Stellenbosch and; or surrounding areas.
No criminal record.
