Job description
Faircape Restaurant and Catering, part of Faircape Life retirement villages, operates across six prime locations across the Western Cape, providing exceptional dining services to village residents and patients in the onsite healthcare centres.
We are seeking a professional, well-presented and customer-focused Waiter with barista experience to join our team. This role is primarily focused on delivering exceptional restaurant service while also supporting our beverage offering by preparing and serving high-quality coffee beverages. The ideal candidate will be passionate about hospitality, possess excellent customer service skills, and contribute to creating a warm and welcoming dining experience for residents and guests.

Key responsibilities:
- Serve food and beverages in accordance with established service standards while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Prepare and serve high-quality coffee beverages, maintain coffee equipment and provide residents with beverage recommendations.
- Possess thorough knowledge of all menu items to confidently recommend or explain options to residents.
- Provide exceptional customer service by accommodating residents' needs, handling complaints professionally, and supporting the team to deliver a seamless dining experience.
- Set tables according to established standards, ensuring all items used are clean, undamaged, and in good repair.
- Change table linen as required and ensure dirty or damaged linen is counted and exchanged for clean, usable items.
- Clean and refill cruet and condiment sets.
- Maintain designated service areas to the required hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Ensure accurate billing of orders and report any discrepancies or errors to management.
- Assist with daily, weekly and monthly stock audits, maintain adequate stock levels, replenish beverage stock and restaurant supplies, and report any variances, shortages, breakages or low-stock items to management.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, grooming and professional appearance.
- Adhere to all health, safety, food hygiene and company policies and procedures.
- Be willing to assist outside of normal working hours with private functions and special events as required.
Experience and Knowledge
- Proven experience as a Waiter in a restaurant, café or similar hospitality environment.
- Previous barista experience is required
- Knowledge of restaurant service etiquette and basic wine knowledge.

Faircape offers a competitive salary package, dependent on experience, qualifications, skills and attributes.
Your total package includes a set basic salary, as well as provision for Sunday pay (at time and a half), public holiday pay (at double time), and quarterly performance bonuses paid every three months after successful probation.
Working Hours
Normal working days are Monday to Sunday, between 07h00 and 19h00, according to the roster.
