Job description

Faircape Restaurant and Catering, part of Faircape Life retirement villages, operates in 6 prime locations across the Western Cape, providing dining services to village residents and patients in the onsite healthcare centres.

We are seeking a friendly, professional and customer-focused Waiter to join our team at Bridgewater Manor in Somerset West.

Job Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Change table linen as required and ensure dirty or damaged linen is counted and exchanged for clean, usable items.
  • Clean and refill cruet and condiment sets.
  • Set tables to laid-down standards, ensuring all items are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair.
  • Maintain designated dining and service areas to the required hygiene standards.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of all menu items to confidently recommend and explain options to residents.
  • Serve food and beverages in accordance with laid-down standards while maintaining a professional and courteous manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times, accommodating residents' needs without inconveniencing other guests.
  • Handle customer complaints effectively and report all complaints to the manager.
  • Assist with daily, weekly and monthly stock audits, reporting any variances or breakages to your manager.
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies to ensure optimal service and availability.
  • Ensure accurate billing of orders and report any billing errors to the manager.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Be willing to assist outside of normal working hours with private events as required.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Proven experience as a Waiter.
  • Barista experience will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of serving etiquette and basic wine knowledge.

  • Ability to provide outstanding service and create a welcoming atmosphere for residents and guests.

Faircape offers a competitive salary package dependent on experience, qualifications, skills and attributes.

Your total package includes a set basic salary, provision for Sunday pay (time and a half), public holiday pay (double time), and quarterly performance bonuses (every three months) after successful probation period.

Working Hours

Normal working days are Monday to Sunday, between 07h00 and 19h00, according to the roster.
