WAREHOUSE AND LOGISTICS MANAGER
Howick, KwaZulu-Natal | Permanent | Onsite
Our client, a leading manufacturer of industrial rubber and conveyor belting products. We are seeking an experienced Warehouse and Logistics Manager to take full accountability for the finished goods warehouse and outbound logistics function at our Howick manufacturing site.
About the role
Reporting to the Managing Director and forming part of the site management team, you will own the finished goods warehouse, finished goods inventory and the distribution of product to our customers. You will lead a team of more than 20 employees and be measured on stock integrity, on time in full delivery performance, safety compliance and cost control.
What you will be responsible for
Directing the receipt of finished product from production through to put away, storage, picking, packing, loading and dispatch.
Owning finished goods and service item inventory accuracy, security and valuation integrity, including cycle counting and wall to wall stock counts.
Reconciling production declarations against warehouse receipts and resolving variances to root cause.
Planning outbound distribution, managing third party transporters and clearing agents, and driving on time in full delivery performance.
Leading, developing and managing the performance of a warehouse and logistics team of 20 or more employees.
Discharging the duties of a manager under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 in the area of responsibility.
Managing the departmental budget and reporting monthly on inventory, delivery and safety performance.
Maintaining ERP data integrity and driving continuous improvement in warehouse layout, process flow and documentation.
What we require
A recognised Bachelor’s degree or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management or a related discipline. This is a non negotiable requirement and qualifications obtained outside South Africa must be verifiable through SAQA.
A minimum of five years’ experience in a warehouse or logistics management role.
Demonstrated leadership of a team of 20 or more employees.
Proven accountability for high value finished goods inventory.
Experience in a manufacturing, industrial or heavy engineering environment. Rubber, polymer, mining supply or conveyor belting exposure is a strong advantage.
Practical ERP experience, with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central advantageous, and Microsoft Excel at intermediate to advanced level.
Sound working knowledge of the Labour Relations Act, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act as they apply to line management.
Experience in a unionised environment and within a certified quality management system.
A valid Code B (08) driver’s licence.
