Job description
Job Purpose:
To support the efficient operation of the warehouse by ensuring that all stock is received, stored, picked, packed, and dispatched accurately and in good condition. The Warehouse Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring timely supply to both stores and online customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, inspect, and store incoming stock deliveries.
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for retail stores and online customers accurately and on time.
- Using warehouse management systems to track inventory, process orders and manage stock movements.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the warehouse, including stock shelves and packing stations.
- Perform regular stock counts and assist with inventory audits.
- Ensure products are handled and stored according to health, safety, and hygiene standards, especially for cosmetics and beauty products.
- Assist in managing stock rotation to minimise expired or damaged products.
- Follow company procedures for returns, damages, and stock discrepancies.
- Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) safely, if certified.
- Work collaboratively with other warehouse team members and departments (e.g., store teams, customer service).
- Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Matric certificate or equivalent (essential)
- Higher Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management
- Relevant warehouse or logistics training (advantageous)
Experience:
- 0-6 months of experience in a warehouse, stockroom, or distribution role (preferably in retail, e-commerce, or FMCG).
- Handling skincare, cosmetics or fragile goods (advantageous).
Skills & Competencies:
- Good physical fitness; able to lift, move, and carry boxes safely.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable and punctual.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily based in a warehouse/distribution environment.
- May involve standing for extended periods and handling heavy boxes.
Other:
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or overtime when required.
- Forklift license (advantageous but not mandatory).
