Job description
JOB SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company’s warehouse and distribution facility in Gauteng, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of imported powder coating products in line with local statutory and safety requirements.
- Oversee receiving, inspection and put-away of imported powder coating stock, verifying quantities and condition against shipping documents and purchase orders.
- Coordinate with customs clearing agents and freight forwarders to ensure smooth clearance arriving at port and timely delivery to the warehouse.
- Manage inventory control and stock accuracy, maintaining correct records in the company’s inventory/accounting system.
- Plan and manage warehouse layout and storage to ensure proper batch tracking, stock rotation, and safe storage of powder coating materials.
- Supervise warehouse staff.
- Ensure compliance with South African Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements.
- Process outbound orders, coordinate delivery to customers.
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly stock, dispatch and inventory reports to the finance and management team.
- Manage warehouse equipment and coordinate maintenance and servicing as required.
- Implement and monitor security procedures to safeguard stock and control access to the warehouse facility.
- Liaise with the sales and finance teams to align stock availability with customer orders and delivery commitments.
- Assist with additional logistics and warehouse operations projects.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Higher Certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehousing, Operations Management, or a related field. A Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain Management (NQF Level 6) would be preferable for a managerial-level position; SAQA-recognised logistics qualifications specifically cover inventory, warehousing, transportation and distribution functions.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or Business Management would be an advantage for a more senior Warehouse Manager role.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse operations, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory/management role, ideally within a manufacturing, chemical or industrial products environment in South Africa.
- Proven experience in inventory control, stock management, receiving and dispatch, warehouse systems/WMS, and team supervision.
- Excellent organizing and planning abilities, with great attention to detail.
- Good understanding of South African warehousing, customs/import clearance, health & safety (OHS Act), and logistics requirements.
- Familiarity with MS Office.
- Valid driver’s licence would be an advantage.
