Web Specialist
Augment Creative & Strategy
Cape Town, Western Cape
Job description
We are looking for a detail-obsessed, systems-minded Web Specialist to join our team, owning website and e-commerce builds across a diverse portfolio of endurance event brands.
βοΈ Contract: Full-time, in-office (Remote Wednesdays)
π Location: Cape Town, South Africa
π€ Meet The Team
We are a dynamic team, passionate about providing a platform for people to be the best version of themselves. We specialise in endurance events across the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe; marketing, producing and executing best-in-class short and long-distance experiences.
If you have an eye for clean, functional web design and you get genuine satisfaction from a well-built, error-free site, this could be your next big move.
πΌ More About This Opportunity
As a Web Specialist at Augment, you will own the build, maintenance, and briefed updates of all Augment website and Shopify properties, spanning Wix Studio, Webflow, and Shopify. You'll work closely with Project Management and the Marketing Operations Lead to turn briefs into consistent, on-brand builds, and with Strategy to keep race sites, landing pages, and race guides aligned to a single wireframe standard.
This role sits at a point of real opportunity for the team: website work has historically been handled ad hoc, with no single owner for platform standards or local-market self-service. You'll be the person who fixes that.
π You are an ideal candidate if:
- You have 3+ years of relevant web build/production experience
- You have hands-on experience with Wix Studio, Webflow, and Shopify
- You have a portfolio demonstrating live, in-production website builds
- You're comfortable working across multiple brands and templates at once
- You're detail-oriented, process-driven, and allergic to inconsistency
- Actively experimenting with, and using, AI to push the boundaries of whats possible within the website space.
π¦Έ Your roles and responsibilities:
Build & Platform Ownership
- Own end-to-end builds and major updates across Wix Studio, Webflow, and Shopify for all five portfolios
- Maintain and evolve our best-practice wireframes as the standard for race sites, race guides, and landing pages.
- Maintain a documented platform standard (component library, page templates, naming conventions) so builds stay consistent regardless of who built them
Quality & Handoff
- Proactively find bugs, errors, and fixes
- Manage issues/ fixes flagged by the website QA process
- Build in ways that reduce the error surface; e.g. through building CMSβs
E-commerce
- Build and maintain Shopify storefronts and merchandise/entitlement pages
SEO & AEO
- Own on-page SEO across all race sites and landing pages: meta titles/descriptions, header structure, alt text, internal linking, URL structure
- Structure content and markup (schema, FAQs, clear headings) so pages are easily parsed by AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews), not just traditional search
- Monitor and act on Google Search Console data; indexing issues, crawl errors, query performance β per portfolio
- Keep site content and metadata up to date once launched.
User Experience & Optimisation
- Design and build with the consumer front of mind: information should be easy to find, understand, and act on, across both mobile and desktop
- Own the post-click experience; what a visitor sees, understands, and does once they land on a page
- Use Google Analytics (GA4) and session/heatmap tools (e.g. Microsoft Clarity) to see how people actually use our sites
- Iterate and refine user journeys based on that data, rather than leaving pages static once live
βοΈ Your key skills and competencies:
- Proficiency in Wix Studio, Webflow, and Shopify
- Working knowledge of CMS setup and permissioning for non-technical local users
- Strong eye for aesthetic, design consistency and UI/UX
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent builds without dropping detail
- Clear, proactive communicator
- Solid on-page SEO experience (technical + content) and working knowledge of Google Search Console
- Understanding of AEO and how it differs from traditional SEO; structuring content for AI-generated answers, not just search rankings
- Comfortable with Google Analytics (GA4) and session/heatmap tools (e.g. Microsoft Clarity) to inform UX decisions
- Strong consumer-first UX instinct for mobile and desktop
- Basic HTML/CSS a plus
