Welding and Boilermaker Training Officer

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Welder & Boilermaker Trainer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for training, coaching and developing welders and boilermakers to ensure they meet the required quality, safety, productivity and workmanship standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong hands-on technical experience with the ability to teach, mentor and motivate employees in a busy manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Train and develop welders and boilermakers in practical welding and fabrication techniques.
• Provide hands-on training in MIG/MAG, TIG and other relevant welding processes.
• Train employees in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, welding symbols and measurements.
• Develop and conduct practical and theoretical skills assessments.
• Identify skills gaps and develop training plans to address them.
• Coach employees on correct welding, fabrication, assembly and finishing techniques.
• Ensure welders understand and comply with quality standards, welding procedures and specifications.
• Monitor trainees' progress and provide regular feedback to management.
• Assist with improving welding quality, productivity and manufacturing processes.
• Promote safe working practices and ensure employees understand workshop safety requirements.
• Work closely with Production, Quality Control and Engineering to identify recurring quality issues and training requirements.
• Maintain accurate training records, assessments and competency documentation.
• Support the development of new and existing employees to improve overall workshop capability.

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified/experienced Welder and Boilermaker.
• Minimum 5 years' practical experience in welding and fabrication.
• Strong knowledge of MIG/MAG welding and steel fabrication.
• Experience working from engineering drawings and welding specifications.
• Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, trailer or heavy-vehicle environment will be advantageous.
• Previous experience in training, coaching or mentoring employees.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to demonstrate practical skills and explain technical concepts clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
