Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Welding / Body-in-White (BIW) Lead to provide technical leadership for vehicle body welding, BIW production processes, welding fixtures, robotic welding systems and dimensional quality.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development and production-readiness of the BIW manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead BIW welding process development and production readiness.
- Coordinate robotic and manual welding operations.
- Manage welding fixtures, tooling, gauges and equipment.
- Establish and maintain welding process standards.
- Monitor weld quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Support installation, commissioning and validation of welding equipment.
- Troubleshoot welding and BIW production problems.
- Work closely with Engineering and Quality teams.
- Support technical supplier discussions and equipment acceptance.
- Develop welding process documentation and operator training requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement in welding quality, productivity and efficiency.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Welding, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline.
- 8+ years' relevant welding/BIW experience.
- Experience with automotive BIW or industrial welding processes.
- Experience with robotic welding systems.
- Knowledge of welding fixtures and dimensional inspection.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead technical teams and production activities.
Advantageous
- Automotive OEM experience.
- Robotic welding programming experience.
- Experience with automated welding lines.
- Knowledge of APQP, PFMEA and Control Plans.
- Automotive quality-system experience.
- Experience commissioning welding equipment.
