Job description
A fast-growing, health-focused café and juicery brand in Cape Town is looking for a visionary HEAD CHEF to join their team.
This role goes beyond running a kitchen. You'll be shaping menus, recipes and wellness products that support the brand's growth into a recognised name in functional, nutrition-led food, working primarily out of a central production kitchen while guiding consistency and innovation across all store locations.
Core Criteria:
- Solid experience in recipe development, costing and scalable food production
- Strong understanding of nutrition, functional ingredients and wellness-focused cooking (gut health, immunity, fermentation, plant-forward menus)
- Proven ability to balance creativity with commercial viability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, growth-stage environment
- Genuine passion for food as a tool for health and longevity
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop seasonal menus aligned with the brand's wellness positioning
- Create, test and cost recipes that are nutritious, scalable and commercially sound
- Design juice cleanses, functional wellness shots and healing broths
- Develop ready-to-eat meals, snacks, frozen items and pantry products for online retail
- Research global food trends and nutritional science to keep offerings current
- Maintain consistency and quality standards across all store locations
- Collaborate with leadership on long-term brand and product strategy
On Offer:
- Salary: R15,000 to R18,000 per month, depending on experience
- Full-time position based in Cape Town
- Opportunity to help build and shape a growing wellness food brand from an early stage
Pay: R15 000,00 - R18 000,00 per month
