Workshop Assistant

WORKSHOP ASSISTANT – KZN Fixed-Term Contract – 3 Months

Atlas Plant Hire is looking for a reliable, hardworking and hands on Workshop Assistant to join our KZN team on a 3-month fixed-term contract.

The successful candidate will provide general support to the workshop and operations team, assisting with the maintenance, cleaning, preparation and movement of plant and equipment. This is a practical, hands on position suited to someone who enjoys working with tools, machinery and equipment and is keen to develop their technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist technicians with servicing, repairs and general maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Clean, inspect and prepare equipment before and after hire.
• Assist with the movement, loading and offloading of plant and equipment.
• Assist with tools, parts and general workshop activities.
• Keep the workshop and yard clean, organised and safe at all times.
• Assist with the safe handling and storage of tools, equipment and parts.
• Report equipment faults, damage or safety concerns to the relevant supervisor.
• Follow all company procedures, health and safety requirements and instructions.
• Wear the required PPE and maintain a safety-conscious approach to all work.
• Carry out general workshop duties as required to support the smooth running of the branch.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Code 10 Drivers license required, with driving experience
• Previous experience in a workshop, plant hire, construction, automotive or similar environment will be an advantage.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and a practical aptitude.
• Comfortable working with hand tools, equipment and machinery.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual and hands on work.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Willing to learn and develop technical and mechanical skills.
• Able to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
