Workshop Foreman

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on mobile and stationary equipment to ensure availability, reliability, and safety.
• Conduct preventative and proactive maintenance on trucks, trailers, pickups, forklifts, and all workshop-related equipment.
• Inspect equipment for defects and determine required repairs.
• Supervise maintenance activities and provide training and guidance to learners.
• Advise management on major repairs and replacement requirements.
• Maintain safe working conditions and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Assist with administrative duties related to vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Prepare and manage preventative and proactive maintenance schedules.
• Control inventory of workshop equipment, parts, and supplies.
• Order replacement equipment, parts, and consumables as required.
• Participate in risk management initiatives.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and service records.
• Manage and lead all workshop staff.
• Adhere to all company PPE requirements.
• Comply with all SMSA policies, procedures, and SHE requirements.
• Promote a safe and healthy working environment at all times

Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Red Seal Diesel Mechanic Trade Qualification.
• Valid Code 14 Driver's Licence.
• Own reliable transport.
• Availability and willingness to assist outside normal working hours.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in the transport industry, with at least 3 years in a fleet maintenance and operations management position.
• Computer literate with proficiency in LMS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Willingness to work overtime as and when operational requirements dictate
