Workshop Manager — Tokai, Cape Town

We're an independent multi-branch automotive service group in the Southern Suburbs, with 25 years behind us and three branches running. We're looking for one person to take full ownership of the Tokai workshop floor.

The shop: 13 bays, 7 qualified technicians, and real room to grow. The directors handle strategy, marketing and car count. The floor is yours — how work flows, how it's done, and how well it's done.

What you own

Technician efficiency, productivity and daily workflow

Quality control and comeback rate — the buck stops with you

WIP control and turnaround time

Technician performance, development and discipline, including the hard conversations

Working alongside the service advisors on job flow and customer commitments

Weekly numbers to the directors: hours sold, efficiency, WIP age, comebacks

What we're looking for

Proven management of a technical team — automotive workshop, fleet, plant or comparable. You've run people who work with their hands.

Management experience beyond the team you came up in. This isn't a step up for a recently promoted technician.

Strong grasp of vehicles and workshop process. You don't have to turn spanners, but you must hold your own with a technician explaining a diagnosis — and know when you're being told a story.

You read numbers and act on them: efficiency, WIP age, comeback rate.

You've performance-managed someone out, and you'd do it again if it was right for the team.

You run a digital workshop system properly, every day, no exceptions.

Valid driver's licence, clean record, contactable references we will call.

R32,000–R40,000 basic depending on experience, plus a monthly performance incentive based on workshop efficiency and quality
