Junior Data Engineer

This position is a key role responsible for the financial soundness of the company. Appointment to the role is subject to Prudential Authority approval.


The Finance Executive is responsible for the full spectrum of financial, regulatory, and operational finance functions, including payroll, ORSA, IFRS 17, and credit control. The role ensures accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and effective risk management across all finance activities, while supporting both local and group objectives.  



**Financial Reporting Responsibilities**

**Statutory Financial Statements**

* Prepare and review annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS, including IFRS 17 for Insurance Contracts.
* Ensure timely submission of financial results to the parent company for group reporting.

**IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts**

* Oversee the ongoing application of IFRS 17, ensuring compliance in the recognition of insurance contract liabilities, revenue, and expenses.
* Maintain and update IFRS 17 accounting policies, methodologies, assumptions, and measurement models, including PAA.
* Coordinate with actuarial teams to ensure accurate calculation and disclosure of insurance contract liabilities, risk adjustment, and related disclosures.

The Department of Basic Education (DBE), through the Education Management Information System (EMIS), is mandated to collect, manage, analyse, and disseminate high\-quality education data and information to support planning, policy development, monitoring, evaluation, and evidence\-based decision\-making across the basic education sector. A key component of this mandate is the implementation and management of the Learner Unit Record Information and Tracking System (LURITS), which was approved on 20 May 2016 as the official Basic Education Sector reporting system. LURITS enables learner\- and educator\-level reporting through the submission of electronic data from schools to Provincial Data Warehouses (PDWs), where data undergoes rigorous quality assurance, validation, cleansing, and consolidation before being uploaded to the national system. The resulting LURITS dataset serves as the official source of education statistics and information for DBE planning, monitoring and reporting, while also supporting the information needs of provincial education departments, other government institutions, Parliament, development partners, researchers, the media, international organisations, and the general public. While significant progress has been made in the collection and management of education data, there remains substantial opportunity to strengthen the analysis, interpretation, and utilisation of EMIS data to generate actionable insights that inform policy and improve education outcomes. PURPOSE:



To design, implement and deploy software for applications in the ERP (Financial or HRM or SCM) suite. Analyze business requirements for projects, recommend enhancement for optimal performance and provide application support.
