Buyer - Raw Materials

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Raw Material Buyer to support our plant operations with the right quality and quantity of raw materials from approved sources. The successful incumbent will manage inventory within budgeted parameters, ensure compliance with procurement systems, and maintain strong collaboration with technical, finance, shipping, and warehouse teams.

This role requires regular supplier visits and audits, reporting on defective, in‑process, and delivered materials, and acting as a liaison with SREU and Sumitomo Rubber Industries Head Office Procurement. The position is critical to achieving company objectives while upholding governance and compliance standards.

Requirements

• Grade 12 minimum
• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in purchasing raw materials and materials management
• Proficiency in SAP and Advanced Excel
• Knowledge of imports, shipping, negotiations, and warehousing
• Strong English communication skills

• Purchasing raw materials and managing related aspects of materials management
• Managing inventory within budgeted parameters
• Conducting supplier audits and visits, reporting on material quality issues
• Collaborating with technical, finance, shipping, and warehouse teams
• Working with SAP procurement modules and Excel for reporting and analysis
