POSITION STATEMENT
The Data Capturer supports the FTTB Maintenance team by accurately capturing, updating and maintaining operational information on approved systems and trackers. The role ensures that job, fault, technician, customer and supporting-document records are complete, current and available for reporting, billing, audit and operational decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Capture new maintenance jobs, faults, service requests and work-order information accurately and timeously.
- Update job progress, technician feedback, appointment details, site information and closure notes on relevant systems and trackers.
- Verify information received from technicians, coordinators and other stakeholders before capturing it, and follow up on missing or unclear details.
- Upload and correctly file supporting documents such as job cards, photographs, customer confirmations, quotations and completion records.
- Maintain accurate customer, circuit, site and asset information while preventing duplicate or incomplete records.
- Assist with preparing daily, weekly and monthly FTTB Maintenance reports, including open jobs, ageing, completed work and outstanding documentation.
- Track outstanding information and escalate overdue, incorrect or incomplete submissions to the relevant coordinator or manager.
- Support job closure and billing readiness by checking that required information and documents have been captured.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with company data-protection, document-control and record-retention requirements.
- Provide general administrative support to the FTTB Maintenance team and assist with reasonable duties related to the role.

- Accuracy of captured information and low number of data errors or duplicate records.
- Information captured and updated within agreed turnaround times.
- Completeness of job records and supporting documentation before closure.
- Timely follow-up and escalation of missing or outstanding information.
- Quality and punctuality of operational reports and trackers.
- Compliance with filing, confidentiality and data-protection requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 / Matric is required.
- A certificate or diploma in administration, data capturing, information management or a related field is advantageous.
- At least 1-2 years' experience in data capturing or administration; telecommunications or maintenance experience is advantageous.
- Computer literacy, with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and electronic record systems.
- Good typing speed and proven ability to capture information accurately.
- Basic understanding of work orders, job cards, fault management and FTTB operations is advantageous.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
