Job Advert Summary
Rand Water is seeking a highly organised, analytical, and results-driven Inventory Administrator to join the Scientific Services Division based at Analytical Services, Vereeniging.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management and control of inventory in accordance with Rand Water policies, procedures, and relevant legislation. The role includes inventory planning and forecasting, inventory control, warehouse management, procurement support, reporting, compliance management, and supervision of stores personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the supply chain and uninterrupted availability of critical inventory items.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma (NQF 6) in Management
- National Diploma (NQF 6) in Inventory Management or Warehouse Management
- Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field (will be advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years Inventory experience
- Minimum 2 years Supervisory experience
- Experience using the SAP Materials Management (MM) module or an equivalent Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
- Valid driver's license
Primary Duties
- Manage inventory levels through effective stock control, Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), inventory forecasting, and maintenance of minimum, maximum and reorder levels
- Coordinate and oversee receiving, issuing, storage, transfer, and disposal of inventory, including the management of redundant, obsolete, and expired stock
- Conduct monthly and bi-annual stock counts, investigate variances, compile reconciliation reports, and process inventory adjustments in accordance with approved procedures
- Coordinate the procurement, replenishment and inventory control of chemicals and critical stock items to support operational requirements
- Analyse inventory trends, monitor inventory turnover and slow-moving stock, and implement inventory optimisation initiatives to improve service levels while reducing carrying costs.
- Ensure the availability of critical inventory required for operational continuity and implement mitigation measures for high-risk inventory categories
- Ensure inventory is stored, handled, and controlled in compliance with legislative requirements, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) standards, SHEQ requirements, and Rand Water policies
- Supervise stores’ personnel, monitor performance, provide coaching and training, and support recruitment and employment equity objectives
- Maintain accurate inventory records and inventory master data within SAP Materials Management (MM).
- Compile monthly inventory reports, inventory reconciliations, annual procurement plans, quarterly inventory reviews, and provide administrative support on departmental business initiatives
- Participate in audits, risk management activities, procedure reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and occupational health and safety requirements
