Job description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The ideal candidate must have practical experience using Pastel Accounting and be capable of performing the full range of bookkeeping functions with accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and maintain accurate financial records.
- Capture and reconcile cashbooks, creditors, and debtors.
- Process supplier invoices and customer payments.
- Perform bank, creditor, debtor, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare and process journals.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
- Maintain fixed asset registers where required.
- Process payroll information (if applicable).
- Prepare VAT information and assist with statutory submissions.
- Follow up on outstanding debtors and supplier queries.
- Maintain filing systems and ensure all financial documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance department.
- Perform any other bookkeeping and accounting duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Certificate or Diploma in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Finance.
- Minimum of 2 years' bookkeeping experience.
- Proven working experience on Pastel Accounting is essential.
- Sound understanding of the complete bookkeeping function up to trial balance.
- Good knowledge of creditors, debtors, bank reconciliations, journals, VAT, and general ledger processing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
