Franschhoek Wine Tram is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Manager to join our team in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley, home to one of South Africa's most celebrated wine tourism experiences.

Role Overview

As the Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our road and rail transport services, facilities, and infrastructure. You will oversee fleet management, facilities maintenance, logistics, compliance, and operational personnel while maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance, compliance, and deployment of vehicles and trams to ensure operational excellence.
  • People Leadership: Lead, mentor, train, and motivate a diverse team including drivers, mechanics, maintenance staff, and other operational personnel.
  • Operational Efficiency: Continuously improve processes, optimize logistics, identify cost-effective solutions, and ensure the smooth flow of services.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant legal, safety, and industry regulations, including RSR, OHSACT, BCEA, and other applicable legislation.
  • Disciplinary Management: Implement and oversee disciplinary procedures, promoting accountability, professionalism, and compliance across the workforce.
  • Inventory & Asset Control: Manage inventory, equipment, maintenance schedules, and stock levels to ensure operational readiness.
  • Vendor & Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with service providers, negotiate contracts, and ensure service quality standards are met.
  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of rail assets, buildings, and operational facilities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in operations, fleet, and facilities management, preferably within the road, rail, transport, tourism, or hospitality sectors.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management experience with a successful track record of leading diverse teams.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of transport, safety, and compliance regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics, fleet management, or operational management systems.
  • A commitment to exceptional customer service and a passion for the tourism industry.
  • Valid Code 10 Driver's Licence.
  • Own reliable transport.
