Campus Development, Infrastructure and Services Campus Security Patrol Officer (Twelve posts) (Post Level 14) (Stellenbosch Campus) Ref. RKS/153/0626

  • Duties/Pligte The primary duty of this member is the proactive patrolling on foot and motorcycle.

The Following Duties Are Also Required Of The Member

  • Proactively identifying, investigating, following up and keeping record of high risk circumstances that can jeopardise the safety of Stellenbosch University (SU) property and community.
  • Relieving duties in the Operational Centre for alarm and camera monitoring.
  • Acting as the enquiry and reference point for SU during patrols on campus.
  • Providing timeous reaction for standby duty where emergency services are deployed on campus.
  • Assisting clients during fire-drills at residences and academic buildings.
  • Interacting positively with campus community members on a daily basis and assisting members in identifying potential safety and/or criminal problems.
  • Providing excellent customer related services to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Responding to, and managing all emergencies and disasters on campus.
  • Providing escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty, as necessary, and providing other public assistance, such as lockout services, jump-starts, and routine information.

  • Positiewe interaksie met die kampusgemeenskap op 'n daaglikse basis en assisteer deur potensiële veiligheids- en/of kriminele probleme te identifiseer.
  • Voorsien uitmuntende kliënt-verwante dienste aan studente, , fakulteit, personeel en besoekers, soos nodig.
  • Reageer op en bestuur alle noodgevalle en rampe op kampus.
  • Voorsien saamstap-dienste aan studente, personeel en besoekers wanneer versoek en waarde toevoegings dienste soos uitsluit-dienste (slot knip, ens.), om voertuigbatterye te jump start, en roetine inligting te verskaf.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
  • Valid Grade B registration with PSIRA and PSIRA Event registered.
  • Must be client oriented.
  • Have strong human relations skills with the ability to interact positively with a diverse university population.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in at least English and Afrikaans.
  • Contactable work related references.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Willingness to work shifts.
  • Willingness to provide extra services, such as working overtime, as required from time to time.
  • Must have the physical ability to make an arrest when necessary.
  • Own transport to and from work.
  • Be team orientated.
  • Have the ability to function on foot patrol in inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Have the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather for extended periods of time.
  • Senior Sertifikaat (Graad 12).
  • Geldige Graad B registrasie by PSIRA en PSIRA-Byeenkoms geregistreerd.
  • Moet kliënte-georienteerd wees.
  • Moet sterk interpersoonlikevaardighede hê met die vermoë om positief met 'n diverse universiteitsbevolking om te gaan.
  • Uitstekende mondelinge kommunikasievaardighede in minstens Afrikaans en Engels.
  • Kontakbare werkverwante verwysings.
  • Moet geen kriminele rekord hê nie.
  • Goeie fisiese en psigiese gesondheid.
  • Bereidwilligheid om skofte te werk.
  • Bereidwilligheid om ekstra dienste, soos bv. oortyd dienste, te verrig soos van tyd tot tyd vereis word.
  • Moet fisies in staat wees om arrestasies te kan maak wanneer nodig.
  • Eie vervoer van en na werksplek.
  • Moet span georiënteerd wees.
  • Moet in staat wees om buite te patrolleer in ongure weerstoestande vir lang tydperke.
  • Die vermoë om buitemuurs te werk in ongure weerstoestande vir lang tydperke.

  • Motorcycle licence;
