POSITION: PRODUCTION MANAGER

About the Position:

We are looking for a Production Manager responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the manufacturing process. His or Her responsibility is to ensure products are produced timelessly, efficiently, meet quality standards, and adhere to production schedules.

Working Conditions:

· Contract type: Permanent

· Number of positions: One (1)

· Location of position: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal

The position will be responsible for:

· Oversee and have complete control of the production process day and night shifts.

· Manage respective departments to ensure that production orders are completed within the prescribed time frame as daily sales schedules.

· Ensure that all products are within specification as determined by the Lupo Bakery’s SOP

· Apply knowledge and skills and account for all departments under current span of control

· Manage subordinates and assign tasks to ensure that the company production process is effective

· Ensure that raw materials used are within specification as determined by the Quality

· Utilize knowledge and skills to ensure that the production process is cost effective by keeping wastage to a minimum and keeping overtime hours as per standards

· Apply total management principles and manage departmental labour issues; overtime; leave; injury on duty and absenteeism in conjunction with the Human Resources department

· Ensure that departments (under span of control) are optimally staffed and fill vacant positions timeously as per the company’s Recruitment & Selection process

· Labour lay-outs are assigned to respective individual machines

· Work closely with shift Quality Controller to ensure that the quality of products meets the company quality standards

· Work closely with the Stores Department to ensure that all required stock is obtained for the production process to run effectively and efficiently

· Ensure the return of raw materials to the storeroom is completed

· Fully understand and comply with the company’s Food Safety policy and work in conjunction with the Food Safety & Cleaning team to ensure that high levels of food safety are upheld in the production process

· Fully understand and maintain the company’s hygiene and housekeeping and OHS policy throughout all departments

· Ensure the correct packaging of products is in line with production specification

· Ensure that subordinates apply safe methods when working with machinery and report non-performing / malfunctioning machinery through the correct processes in consultation with the Maintenance Manager

· Ensure that all documentation (e.g., yields, waste and shortages) is completed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as required by the Company processes

· Attend Factory Manager chaired meetings and hold regular meetings with subordinates to set objectives and ensure that the most effective and efficient production process is implemented within the company

· Identify training needs for subordinates and follow proper company procedure for training implementation

· Conduct monthly stock take on all materials, semi processed, processed and frozen good.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following requirements:

· Grade 12

· Good Computer Skills

· Diploma in Operations Management/Food/Production or Technical Qualification

· + 5 years of experience baking/manufacturing (FMCG)
