Professional Draughtsman – Survey & Engineering

G2 Surveys Mapping (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced, technically proficient and detail-oriented Professional Draughtsman to join our surveying and engineering team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate, professional and technically compliant drawings from survey data, engineering information and project specifications. The position requires someone who can work independently and confidently liaise with professional surveyors, engineers and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed survey and engineering drawings.
• Produce drawings from survey field data, coordinates, levels, point files and engineering information.
• Prepare plans incorporating contours, spot heights, breaklines, boundaries, structures, roads, drainage, services and other surveyed features.
• Develop and maintain accurate CAD drawings in accordance with project and industry standards.
• Ensure correct use of layers, line types, scales, annotations, title blocks and drawing references.
• Review and quality-check drawings before submission to clients and consultants.
• Interpret technical information and identify discrepancies or omissions.
• Manage drawing revisions and maintain proper document control.
• Work closely with professional surveyors and engineers to ensure drawings accurately reflect field and design information.
• Prepare final drawing packages and deliverables for client submission.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately and within project deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

• National Diploma / Degree in Draughting, Engineering Draughting, Civil Engineering or a related field, or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Additional CAD/Draughting qualifications will be advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant professional experience in survey and engineering draughting.
• Proven experience working with surveying and engineering projects.

Technical Requirements

Essential:

• Advanced AutoCAD proficiency.
• Strong understanding of technical drawing principles and CAD standards.
• Ability to interpret survey coordinates, levels, contours and field data.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Excellent understanding of drawing scales, layers, line types, annotations and revisions.
• Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy.

Advantageous:

• Civil 3D experience.
• Experience with topographical surveying and survey data processing.
• Experience working with DTM/terrain models.
• GIS experience.
• Experience in infrastructure, construction, mining or engineering projects.
• Experience preparing drawings for professional engineering and surveying consultants.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate previous survey and engineering draughting experience.

A portfolio or examples of previous technical drawings may be requested during the recruitment process.

Salary

R22,000 – R28,000 per month, depending on qualifications, experience and technical competency.
